Consult Line

What Is Consult Line

Consult LineThe North Dakota Pediatric Mental Health Care Access Line connects Primary Care Providers with a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for consultation during daytime business hours. The Consult Line is grant-funded, and there is no cost for this service. The Consult Line is open to primary care providers treating children and adolescents throughout North Dakota.

Before You Call

Before you call the Consult Line, here are some things to be aware of.

Please have a conversation with your patient’s caregiver to let them know that you wish to make a consultation with a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. As part of the program, Family Voices, a private, nonprofit care coordination partner, can reach out to the family to see if there are any other services and care coordination efforts they could assist with. A Release of Information Form will need to be completed by the caregiver to accomplish this.

Family Voices will answer the Consult line as our partnering provider for coordination of care.

They will ask you multiple questions to prepare the on-call psychiatrist for your consultation and fulfill grant-related documentation requirements. Please review the Consult Request Guide and have your answers prepared before calling.

How To Access Consult Line

Primary Care Providers can call the toll-free phone number:

(888) 522-9654
Monday – Friday
8:30 am – 4:30 pm.

Providers will be asked a few brief questions to identify the nature of the call and collect critical points about the patient. The collected information will be forwarded to a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, who will then call the Primary Care Provider back to provide free consultation on the case.
