Dr. Joan Connell

Dr. Connell is a Board Certified Pediatrician through the American Academy of Pediatrics. She her BS in Pharmacy, MD, MS in Biomedical Research, and Masters in Public Health, as well as completing her pediatric residency training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Connell has been practicing in the Bismarck area since 2002, currently seeing patients at UND Center for Family Medicine and Children’s Regional Asthma Clinic. During that time, she initially served as the Associate Clerkship Director in Pediatrics for UND School of Medicine SW campus as a Clinical Professor before taking the position of field medical officer for the North Dakota Department of Health (NDDOH) in 2015. As part of that role, Dr. Connell serves as the medical director for NDDOH’s Special Health Services, Newborn Screening Program and Emergency Medical Services for Children. She also has served as President of the North Dakota chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics prior to serving in her current role as President of District VI North Dakota Medical Association (NDMA), where she participates in the NDMA Council and serves as Lead for the NDMA Physician Advisory Group.
